CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

Imagen
Hello everyone, in today's blog I will talk about some changes that could be made in my study program. The curriculum of these years (I am currently in my second year of dental studies) is based mainly on two aspects, the theoretical aspect, where we find subjects such as chemistry, physics, pathology, etc. and the practical aspect, where we attend laboratories such as chemistry, anatomy rooms and preclinical rooms where we practice everything that is dentistry itself. Due to the pandemic, we have lost a lot of preclinical practice, so I think the curriculum should change for the next few years and add more practical work time, adjusting the workload according to practical demands, especially when attending patients in the clinic, which is where students usually extend the length of their studies, because the demand is too much. So far the teaching methods have worked well, and I hope that it will continue to work in the same way or even better. Another thing I would like to chang...

PERSONAL OPINION

Imagen
Hello everyone, today I will give you my opinion about killing stray dogs to prevent health problems and animal overpopulation. It is clear that we have all noticed the high number of stray dogs in all parts of the country, so it is clearly a problem that includes all of us, without exception, but even so, it seems to be invisible to a part of society, because most of these dogs were probably abandoned by their own owners and because of this a lot of problems arise such as the poor quality of life of these dogs, accumulation of waste, bad smells, risk of transmission of diseases and even attacks and bites. But now, the solution to this issue is to kill the dogs? No, in no way, for the simple reason that it is not the dogs' fault, it is the fault of our society. Like humans, dogs have fundamental rights and must be treated morally as equals. Killing them reflects a clear disregard for the lives of dogs that for various reasons take public spaces as their living place.  The gov...

MY FUTURE JOB

Imagen
Hello everyone, in today's blog I will talk about my future work. It is difficult to talk about the future because maybe as we could realize this year, things can change from one day to another, but based on the present, I am currently studying dentistry so I would love to work as a dentist, specifically, I would like to work outside the four walls of a dental clinic, traveling to places that do not have good access to dental care. Currently in Chile, working as a general dentist is a little complicated because there are many dentists and the salaries are not the best (the problem is a little more profound) so the best option would be to study a major. I am not clear what specialty I would like but for the moment I am attracted by Oral Pathology and Maxillofacial Surgery, I'm not sure where to study it either (Chile or abroad) but what I do know is that I would like to work as a specialist in Chile because I want to deal with more fundamental problems, especially in public hea...

A series I would like to recommend

Imagen
Hello everyone, today I'll be writing about a series I saw a couple of weeks ago that I'd like to recommend to you, the series is called "Emily in Paris", it's a comedy and drama series created and produced by Darren Star, it premiered quite recently and is available on Netflix.  The plot is about a young woman named Emily Cooper who lives in Chicago who is presented with the opportunity to move to Paris for work. There she will be responsible for giving a more innovative vision (with several difficulties) to a French company. The series has 10 chapters (not so long, which I like) and basically uses the exalted clichés of the two cultures, the French and the American. I personally liked this series because the plot is quite light, funny, and especially simple, ideal if you don't want to overthink a series. It's not a great series, but it's good to pass the time and relax a bit (ideal to watch between classes). I think it has similar things to The Devi...

BEST CONCERT EVER

Imagen
Hello everyone, in today's blog I will talk about my best concert ever. I'm a real fan of live music, especially if I like the artist.   I've been to 4 big concerts, but one that I remember with joy was the Where We Are Tour by the boy band One Direction (yes, I was a crazy fangirl). For those of you who don't know One Direction was a pop-rock band from England and Ireland, quite famous at that time. Back to 2014, I was 13 years old and went to the two concerts they did in Santiago (insane, really no need, I know). I remember being very excited and euphoric with one of my best friends Javiera, the atmosphere in the stadium was a mixture of tears and shouts of hysteria, and one of the reasons why I enjoyed the concert was that I felt a connection with all those strangers. For me, it was an experience I would like to relive because the energy the crowd creates was incredible.

A COUNTRY I´D LIKE TO VISIT

Imagen
Hello everyone! Today I will talk about the country I would like to visit. I would like to visit many countries, but the one I chose is Switzerland. Switzerland is a small country located in Western Europe, and is covered by rivers, valleys, and mountains, so many villages are located in its heights, in nature. One of the most famous mountains in the Alps is Matterhorn which is 4,478 meters high. This is one of the reasons I chose Switzerland, the beautiful landscapes that look like edited  photographs. Other reasons for choosing Switzerland are that it is one of the safest countries in the world, is among the least corrupt countries in the world and last but not least, the food, dishes with lots of cheese and Swiss chocolate obviously. The things I would like to do are travel as much as possible, meet many people, ski in the mountains and if it's possible work there as a dentist because they have a great development in scientific research.

A photograph and its history.

This photo was taken 5 months ago in Villa la Angostura, Argentina when my family and I were returning to Chile after spending 2 weeks in Bariloche.  In the photo, I appear with my two brothers and it was taken by my dad. This photo brings back many memories and at the same time, it gives me a lot of nostalgia because it was summer (even though it was 10 degrees) and we were not in quarantine so we could travel as much as we wanted. Besides, it was the first vacation the three of us were on together after a year.  I remember that that same day at the hotel breakfast we had a competition of who could eat the most croissants with dulce de leche and the winner could put the music in the car, I must confess that I lost. I hope that those vacations will be repeated because with them everything is better and more entertaining.
